GHHS Model UN Tops in Competition

In March 2024, a team of eight GHHS Model UN delegates attended the 50th National High School Model United Nations Conference in New York City.  Out of over 5,000 participants from 70 different countries, Grandview Heights High School's team received the Award of Excellence for Overall Performance.  In addition, delegates Maggie Wessel, Vivian Chute, and Sabrina Li received the highest award, the Award of Distinction, in their committees.  Congratulations to Maggie Wessel, Sabrina Li, Vivian Chute, Devin Yaeger, Lucas Schmied, Christian Cunningham, Ronan Hayes, Kenny Lewis, and advisor Emily Mascia for an amazing showing!

Following months of research and preparation, our team was fully prepared for the four-day conference where they worked collaboratively with students from all over the world to create resolutions for some of the world's most pressing issues. Students honed their public-speaking and communication skills; improved networking and negotiation skills; and were active global citizens.

Other highlights from the conference include participating in a panel discussion with members from the United Nations and listening to Dr. Anthony Fauci speak at the opening ceremony.

Opportunities like these would not be possible for our students without the support of the Grandview Heights Schools community and specifically the Bobcat Boosters organization who so generously supports our student activities.  Thank you, Bobcat Boosters, for helping to make Grandview Heights Schools A SMALL PLACE TO DREAM BIG for our students!
